The Lodge at Sonoma Resort Wedding

Celebrating love in Sonoma Wine Country. These two make the most beautiful couple and everything came out so amazing for their wonderful wedding celebration that I couldn’t help myself but to share these wonderful photos captured by Stephanie Hopkins.

The lodge of Sonoma is located around beautiful wineries iconic to the rest of the world. Sonoma is just 14 miles from Napa County which offers its own wonderful selections of wineries and scenery. This venue is covered in a tent and offers two big spaces that can be used for various purposes as well as an outside ceremony area. As a florist, i love a venue that offers an inside option because of the heat here in this region, the heat can be really bad in the summer and flowers, much like your guests, would prefer to be inside a cool and more refreshing area.

The hotel located on site is a beautiful modern hotel that includes a beautiful bridal suit which included a beautiful balcony perfect for photos with the family. It was a really big space which is important to have all your loved ones with you while getting ready and taking photos. I love walking into a bridal suit and being able to delivery all the florals to one spot. It is special when the bride gets to see all of the florals that the family and bridal party will have while walking down the aisle. The groom was in a separate room with all his friends, also great to be close by and ready for photo sessions.

As a florist, i loved the outside space offering such a beautiful scenery with natural greens and the beautiful tree at the center. Kristine & Andrew chose to have this beautiful tree as their background for their beautiful wedding though this space can also be used for a cocktail hour space. The space is spectacular in the summer as the shade from the tree is spectacular for the bride and groom.

The reception was inside the tent which is incredibly spacious and has grass on the floor, it really feels like you are on real grass. The centerpieces we used were bud vases around a beautiful black rimmed lantern with candles for each table. The venue does not allow real flames so we used electric candles which looked amazing in the rustic rust colored votive vases i acquired for the Murphy’s. The color combination of the napkins with the table cloths and florals looked amazing and really tied in all of the color palette we were going for. Centerpieces are one of the most important floral pieces for your wedding. Flowers are what will complete the room, the colors of the florals will tie everything together. Flowers come in so many different tones and hues and using a wide range of colors will really create the feeling and vibe you are going for on your wedding day. In the case of the Murphy’s we were going for a hint of rustic but in an elegant and classic way, which was completely achieved.

Though i love a good outside venue, flowers love being inside and away for direct sun exposure. This wedding was in mid-November and the weather was still great. In California, we have great weather most of the year. Having the opportunity to design in such a beautiful venue was truly a gift. The sweetheart table was perfectly placed in the center of the reception room and showcased a beautiful spray arrangement in the center and bud vases that covered the rest of the table. The rustic candles were an amazing complement to the colors all around.

You can find several great photo opportunities at this venue and as a florist, i always love a venue where flowers can be incorporated! YES!

The venue provides a second tented room which is equal the size of their reception room. For the Murphy’s, it was used as a cocktail and lounge area including the bar though I have seen it used as a ceremony space during the rainy season. This is a perfect venue if you need a plan B in the case of rain.

The colors were a spectrum of rust and orange with hints of blue and burgundy. Fall color palettes are the most amazing color palettes, there is so much variety in the spectrum of colors and so many different tones in florals to choose from. A fall colored wedding in the fall with seasonal fall florals was a recipe for perfection. I combined dahlias with carnations and roses including fillers and greenery.

If you are getting married in this beautiful venue in the heart of wine country, reach out to me for your wedding florals. I would love nothing more than to come back to this beautiful venue and design once again in this wonderful tent and majestic tree ceremony. Having design here before, we can discuss ideas about how to best utilize this space and how best to showcase the florals you choose.
